My birthday is coming up soon (the 21st, just in case you were curious) and this is probably the first time I’ve been this uninterested in “my special day”.

Is it just me or is 19 one of the most boring ages to turn? It’s like 17. You’ve just turned 16 and it’s like, “Woo, yay! 16! I can drive!” but the next year nothing special happens. Then you turn 18 and it’s, “I’m an adult! Oh no! Responsibilities! But wait, I still live with my mom. No worries!” After that there’s 19. Which, to me, is pretty much, “Congrats. You’re a year away from 20. Whoop-di-doo.”

I want to do something cool to make this birthday interesting, but I abhor having a winter birthday. Especially one in a city where the weather forecast predicts rain for the entire week until Christmas. I was considering dying my hair a pale, pastel pink a la Marie Antoinette back in October but didn’t have the guts. I kind of want that kind of extreme change, but because I have very dark hair I’m terrified of ruining it with bleach.

Having hair that makes you look like you just stepped out of a cartoon looks like so much fuuuuuuuuuuuuun. But I like being nooooormallllllll. Whiiiine.
